Civic Health

SCI Dorchester @ DotWell is a civic partnership between Social Capital Inc. and DotWell with the goal of strengthening communities by connecting diverse individuals and organizations through civic engagement initiatives.

Our vision is to develop a community where individuals are strongly connected to their neighbors and play an active role in shaping the destiny of their communities. This increase in social capital will result in communities that are safer, healthier and more vital. A signature feature of the SCI activities is the well-developed interactive community portal www.mydorchester.org as well as the weekly SCI Dorchester E-Blast, a weekly electronic newsletter announcing community events, programs and opportunities.

SCI Dorchester @ DotWell focuses on four priority areas:

  • Engaging Youth: Engage 1,000 youth in civic activities through civic engagement and community service learning activities
  • Connecting Citizens: Connect 2,200 citizens to information and resources in the community
  • Leveraging Volunteers: Recruit and coordinate 200 adult volunteers for DotWell and in turn serve 600 community members through the volunteers
  • Building Bridges: Build social capital and increasing civic engagement between adults, youth and the community
